Staples is business to business. You’re what binds us together.

Join a team of legal and risk professionals that work collaboratively with clients in providing practical solutions to grow businesses in multiple industries and different jurisdictions. We help our varied businesses assess risk, drive results and mitigate problems. With diverse projects and a transformative culture, you’ll grow and learn with our businesses. Work with appreciative clients and supportive peers in a flexible environment that helps you gain the experience you want to develop your career.

    What you will be doing:

The Senior Liability Risk Specialist is the driving force behind the management of Automobile, General Liability, Property, Subrogation, and Salvage claims across all U.S. jurisdictions. You’ll take ownership of claim strategy, collaborate directly with brokers, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and third-party administrators (TPAs), and ensure claims are resolved swiftly and cost-effectively. In this role, you’ll protect company assets and balance sheet integrity by actively managing claim outcomes, litigation exposure, reserves, and total cost of risk. You’ll also lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, reporting accuracy, communication clarity, and financial controls throughout the claim lifecycle.

What You Bring to the Table:

You’re a critical thinker with sound judgment and strong analytical skills. You communicate confidently and clearly, whether preparing executive-level reports or collaborating with stakeholders. Your ability to influence without authority, negotiate effectively, and build partnerships sets you apart. Empathy and active listening are second nature, and you thrive in fast-paced environments by balancing multiple priorities with project-management discipline and attention to detail. You’re committed to continuous improvement and handle confidential information with discretion.

    What’s needed: Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

+ 3+ years experience in liability claims, risk management, insurance, or related fields

+ Demonstrated experience managing Automobile, General Liability, or Property claims

+ Experience working with third-party administrators, insurers, or legal counsel

+ Proficiency with RMIS/claims systems (e.g., Origami, Riskonnect) and Excel or BI dashboards

    Preferred Qualifications:

+ Professional designation such as ARM, CPCU, AIC, or similar

+ Oversaw claims involved in litigation and worked in partnership with defense attorneys

+ Performed analysis to identify underlying causes and acted to prevent future losses

+ Experienced working with sizable, multi-state companies and navigating intricate risk scenarios

+ Contributed to enhancing processes and strengthening claims governance

    We Offer:

+ Inclusive culture with associate-led Business Resource Groups

+ Flexible PTO (22 days) and Holiday Schedule (7 observed paid holidays)

+ Online and Retail Discounts, Company Match 401(k), Physical and Mental Health Wellness programs, and more!
