    Job Description

    Reporting to the Vice President of Civil Space, this position will lead advanced systems and business development teams in space sciences, earth remote sensing, exploration, and international strategy and business development.

     

    The Civil Space Strategic Business Unit develops many of the world s pioneering space and science missions. From delivering entire missions to contributing component level expertise, we value our role as a mission partner and our ability to provide science at any scale.     What You ll Do:

    + Manage the team that develops, pursues, and wins business with governmental (US and foreign) and non-government organizations in the areas of science missions, operational missions (including weather), technology development, and other space-related work in the civil arena (space science, earth remote sensing, human exploration, and international markets).

    + Act as line manager for business development gates including approval authority and presenter at higher levels of authority.

    + Perform management duties for business development staff.

    + Engage in transition from business development activities to execution activities.

    + Create inclusive teams for capture activities; inspire teams to go beyond for customers and win business.

    + Ensure all business is conducted with the highest ethical standards.

    + Contribute to developing and executing a broad strategy to grow BAE/Space and Mission Systems (SMS) business and market share.

    + Successfully collaborate with BAE/SMS s Strategic Operations, Communications, Finance, Contracts, Engineering, Marketing & Communications, Operations, and other business units at BAE Systems. Work closely with Civil Space business unit leadership as a member of the Civil Space leadership team.

    + Manage budgets, prioritize opportunities, contribute to establishing bookings and staffing plans.

    + Develop and communicate messages, marketing, competition assessments, and customer insights to pursuit teams and leadership.

    + Maintain awareness of organizational conflicts of interest and teaming agreements across the BAE Systems, Inc. portfolios relative to Civil Space.

    + Attend conferences, trade shows, customer and partner meetings, both domestically and internationally, to share BAE SMS capabilities, align strategies, and form partnering agreements.

    + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

    + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

    + Perform other duties as necessary.

    **On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site five days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

    Working Conditions:

    + Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

    **Short-Term Incentive:** Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + BS/BA in related field plus 12 or more years related experience.

    + Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

    + Deep knowledge of NASA Human Exploration and Science (SMD), and NOAA, including but not limited to technology development programs and AOs.

    + Collaborative and inclusive style and ability to work with diverse colleagues, including those working in other geographical areas.

    + Highest standard of business ethics.

    + Demonstrated excellence in leadership of teams.

    + Superb communication skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision-making and technical audiences.

    + Demonstrable profile in and relationships across space customer communities; existing relationships with high-level stakeholders and customers.

    A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Current TS/SCI security clearance preferred.

    + Experience in an organization managing rapid growth a plus.

    + Experience working in civil space in a very large aerospace company preferred.

    + Experience working in the international aerospace community preferred.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $169630 - $288370

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
