Tessera is hiring a Planner Estimator to support Base Maintenance Contract (BMC) operations at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). This role is responsible for preparing specifications, drawings, and cost estimates, analyzing blueprints, and managing projects from award to closeout. The Planner Estimator will utilize CMMS tools such as Maximo, coordinate with engineers and contractors, and ensure accurate cost tracking and documentation. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support in a mission-critical environment.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
+ Develop scopes, drawings, plans, and specifications for construction and repair projects.
+ Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and subcontractor bids.
+ Analyze blueprints and technical documents to ensure accurate project planning.
+ Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and government representatives.
+ Manage assigned projects using the Maximo CMMS system and maintain accurate records.
+ Track project costs, assess cost-effectiveness, and report expenditures regularly.
+ Oversee subcontractor schedules, permits, and compliance with building codes.
+ Conduct site visits to monitor progress, document conditions, and enforce safety standards.
+ Maintain daily logs, photos, and reports; issue violation notices or stop-work orders as needed.
+ Ensure adherence to OSHA and all applicable safety regulations throughout project execution.
Qualifications:
+ 5–8 years of experience in project planning, estimating, or facilities management.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
+ Familiarity with USAFA facility operations and Base Maintenance Contract (BMC) procedures is a plus
+ Strong analytical and math skills for cost estimation and budgeting.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
+ Experience with CMMS systems (Maximo preferred).
+ Excellent communication and coordination skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook
+ Advanced training or certifications in project management or cost estimation.
Physical Requirements:

+ May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
+ Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
+ Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

+ A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
