Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking to bring on a hands-on AI engineer to join their AI Center of Excellence. The AI Center of Excellence is establishing an AI Lab responsible for rapid experimentation, agent development, workflow automation, and production-ready prototypes that support priority business initiatives.

We are seeking a hands-on AI Engineer able to design, build, and operationalize AI-driven automations, agent workflows, and lightweight applications.

This role receives business problems prioritized by the COE and transforms them into working AI solutions through fast iteration, experimentation, and technical execution.

This is not a research role. It is a builder role.

The ideal candidate is someone with the technical depth and practical engineering skill to:

1. Build agents using MCP and modern agentic patterns.

2. Develop automations using n8n and workflow tools.

3. Create small-scale AI systems (RAG, routing, extraction, data workflows).

4. Deploy MVPs rapidly and iterate.

5. Support scaling after validation.

Skills and Requirements

AI / LLM / Agent Systems

• Strong experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama, Mistral models.

• Practical understanding of agentic architectures (MCP, A2A, AG-UI patterns).

• Ability to design context assemblies, memory strategies, and multi-step reasoning flows.

• Experience with RAG pipelines: chunking strategies, hybrid search, vector DBs (Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB).

Workflow Automation

• Advanced experience with n8n including custom node building and complex orchestration.

• Experience integrating APIs, events, and databases into workflows.

• Understanding of RPA and process automation principles.

Backend Engineering

• Strong Python and/or Node.js for building microservices and agent endpoints.

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or equivalent frameworks.

• API architecture, webhooks, event-driven design.

Cloud & DevOps

• Docker proficiency.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).

• Optional but desirable: Kubernetes, Terraform. • Worked on agentic systems or automated business workflows.

• Experience in enterprise environments with compliance/security requirements.

• Experience integrating AI systems with CRM, ERP, or internal tools.

• Hands-on background turning prototypes into reliable MVPs.

• Experience in AI consultancy or fast-paced innovation teams.
