Description

Amanda Warren with Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a great company in the South Sacramento area. In this position, you will play a key role in managing accounts receivable, reconciling financial records, and ensuring compliance with tax filings across multiple states. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic accounting team while gaining exposure to various aspects of financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile cash and accounts receivable transactions across multiple entities to ensure accuracy.

• Process adjustments to accounts receivable and prepare journal entries as required.

• Monitor and manage bad debt write-offs and maintain the allowance account.

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations to verify financial data integrity.

• File sales tax returns and business fees for multiple states in compliance with regulations.

• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including commissions and medical expenses.

• Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and assistance.

• Serve as a backup for the senior accountant, assisting with fixed assets and other team responsibilities.

• Utilize accounting software such as AS400 and Sage300 to manage financial data efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on accounts receivable and reconciliations.

• Proficiency in creating journal entries and handling adjustments/write-offs.

• Familiarity with month-end processes, including sub-ledger reconciliation to the general ledger.

• Experience with accounting software such as AS400 and Sage300.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Understanding of multi-state sales tax filings and compliance requirements.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in financial record-keeping.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within an accounting team and provide support when needed.
