Job Title: Environmental Field Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental Field Technician to perform a variety of sampling and monitoring tasks. This role involves collecting soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, air, geophysical, landfill gas, and leachate samples. You will be responsible for preparing daily field logs, reporting field conditions and test results, and assisting project managers with data analysis and documentation.
Responsibilities
+ Perform soil, groundwater, air, and landfill gas sampling and monitoring.
+ Prepare daily field logs documenting data collected and observations made.
+ Report field conditions and test results to project managers and clients.
+ Assist with data reduction, analysis, and documentation.
+ Operate and maintain basic field instruments and equipment.
+ Perform maintenance and repairs on electronic and mechanical equipment.
+ Maintain and calibrate field test equipment.
+ Prepare charts, maps, and cross-sections for reports.
+ Assist with underground storage tank project maintenance and repairs.
+ Support project managers with office duties and administrative tasks.
+ Prepare technical memos and reports.
+ Manage technical equipment and provide technical support to staff.
+ Track and document test results and data.
+ Read maps and construction-related drawings.
+ Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
+ Communicate clearly and follow directions.
+ Work independently and solve problems efficiently.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in inspection, soil sampling, and environmental fieldwork.
+ Knowledge of geology, water sampling, and environmental science.
+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Civil Technology, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
+ 0-3 years of relevant experience, including internships or field exposure.
+ Ability to work with mechanical systems and construction projects.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
+ Ability to complete basic math calculations and lift up to 50 pounds.
+ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Completion or willingness to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
+ Experience with DNR compliance is a plus.
+ Familiarity with air monitoring and groundwater sampling is advantageous.
Work Environment
The position supports work in Waukesha and Milwaukee County and involves commuting to sites using a company vehicle. Expect a standard 40-45 hour work week with occasional longer days or rare weekend work. Work primarily supports landfill projects in the area. The company fosters a collaborative, employee-owned culture with opportunities for remote work when not on-site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muskego, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
