    Description

    Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant for an immediate need due to a recent team departure. This role is project-based to start, with strong potential to convert for the right candidate. The top priority is stabilizing and completing backlogged month-end closes and taking ownership of job costing and WIP cleanup in a fast-paced environment.

     

    This position is 100% onsite and requires someone who can step in quickly with minimal ramp-up.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Own and complete month-end close, including cleanup of prior incomplete periods

    + Prepare and support financial statements and related schedules

    + Manage job costing and project accounting, including percentage-of-completion calculations

    + Maintain and reconcile WIP and Accounts Receivable balances

    + Handle Accounts Payable, journal entries, and sales tax reporting

    + Sort, code, and match invoices to purchase orders

    + Run weekly check runs, including vendor waivers and invoice documentation

    + Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

    + Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations

    + Build and maintain project accounting spreadsheets using Excel

    + Export data from the accounting system into Excel for analysis and reporting

    + Partner closely with project and design teams on:

    + Purchase orders

    + Project tracking

    + Client proposals

    + Work directly with the Controller and CFO

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications

    + 2–8 years of experience in general ledger accounting, job costing, and financial reporting

    + Hands-on experience with project accounting / percentage-of-completion

    + Strong Excel skills, including working with large data exports and Pivot Tables

    + Experience managing WIP and AR

    + Comfortable stepping into a messy close or cleanup environment

    + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    + Willing and able to work onsite full-time

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Prior experience with Sage (nice to have, not required)

    + Background in fast-paced, project-driven environments
