Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support our client in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this contract position, you will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with governmental standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail and a background in accounting, financial management, and local government practices.
Responsibilities:
• Manage comprehensive accounting operations, including overseeing general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow tracking.
• Prepare and administer annual budgets while closely monitoring expenditures to align with approved allocations.
• Ensure compliance with state and local financial regulations and procurement standards, maintaining adherence to organizational policies.
• Produce detailed financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for internal and external stakeholders.
• Act as the primary liaison during internal and external audits, implementing corrective measures and facilitating reporting to the board.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational funds.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board for informed decision-making.
• Coordinate financial reporting and ensure timely submission of documents to auditors, government officials, and governing boards.
• Utilize accounting software and tools, such as QuickBooks and Excel, to streamline reporting and analysis processes.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with governing boards, auditors, and government officials.
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial statement preparation and audits.
• Familiarity with local government financial regulations and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
