Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing property accounting processes, overseeing fixed asset management, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proven ability to collaborate across departments.
Responsibilities:
• Manage property accounting functions, including recording, reconciling, and reviewing property transactions.
• Maintain and update fixed asset registers to ensure accurate tracking, capitalization, and depreciation.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports related to property and fixed assets, providing insights to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies regarding asset capitalization and management.
• Conduct periodic audits of property and asset records to verify accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with teams across departments to provide financial analysis for property-related initiatives.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for property and fixed assets.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in property accounting practices.
• Support month-end close procedures by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Utilize accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP to streamline reporting and analysis. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on property accounting and fixed assets.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, especially those related to asset management and capitalization.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
• Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
• Ability to manage month-end close processes, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
