The Commercial Estimator is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and preparing cost estimates for plumbing & HVAC materials, equipment, and systems for large-scale commercial projects. This role involves collaborating with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable bids for plumbing supplies.

Primary Responsibilities:

Estimate Preparation & Analysis:

• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine scope of materials required

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, fixtures, valves, water heaters, and related components

• Apply analytical skills to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards

• Utilize Epicor Eclipse and spreadsheets to create comprehensive cost breakdowns

• Conduct thorough cost analysis to ensure accurate and competitive pricing

Vendor & Pricing Coordination:

• Research and maintain current pricing databases for plumbing materials and equipment

• Collaborate with suppliers to obtain initial quotes and pricing information

• Track market pricing trends and fluctuations in material costs

• Maintain organized records of all estimates, pricing sheets, and vendor quotes

Internal Collaboration:

• Work closely with Project Managers to hand off completed estimates for final negotiations

• Provide technical expertise on plumbing systems and specifications to support the sales team

• Assist in developing standardized estimating procedures and best practices

• Support the Commercial Sales Manager with reporting and analysis as needed

Documentation & Compliance:

• Ensure all estimates comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards

• Maintain detailed documentation of estimating assumptions and methodologies

• Track estimate accuracy and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, or related field

• Minimum 2 years of experience in plumbing estimating or project management

• Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods

• Knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus

• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong attention to detail

• Proficient spreadsheets, and general computer applications, prior knowledge of Epicor Eclipse is a plus

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents

• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
