    Job Description

    The Buyer position is directly responsible for purchasing, stocking, inventory management, and maintaining supplier relationships. Core functions include generating purchase orders, qualifying suppliers, and negotiating contracts, including pricing agreements and terms. The Buyer will report to upper management and advise on the procurement needs of the company.

    Responsibilities

    + Assign purchase orders to trained staff and review and approve purchase orders generated by others.

    + Generate purchase orders as needed and submit them for review.

    + Perform or assign follow-ups to ensure purchase orders are accepted and fulfilled as specified.

    + Take remedial action with suppliers to ensure orders are fulfilled as required.

    + Manage backordered supplies to ensure staff and management can fulfill customer orders.

    + Drive on-time delivery metrics and ensure Supplier Quality performance metrics are maintained, executing corrective actions as necessary.

    + Verify the quality of products in accordance with ISO regulations.

    + Take remedial action with suppliers to address non-conforming material, non-performance of contractual agreements, and other conditions requiring remedy.

    + Maintain the supplier scorecard and prepare supplier reviews annually or as needed.

    + Negotiate pricing and pricing agreements for purchased inputs.

    + Seek out and qualify new suppliers as needed and perform tasks required for the new vendor approval process.

    + Manage the distribution of workload to qualified suppliers to ensure timely product receipt.

    + Collaborate with management on costing projects and inventory strategy.

    + Record purchasing data in the ERP and Salesforce software.

    + Generate Stocking Reports and take action to keep key inputs in stock.

    + Work hand-in-hand with the production manager to order workflow to meet demands.

    + Coordinate with the Production Manager to schedule and perform regular inventory counts and work with requisite teams to achieve count goals.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years of experience in a related position.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems understanding.

    + MRP experience.

    + Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, V-lookup, and VB automation.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + APICS or related certification preferred.

    + Experience in an ISO-regulated environment (ISO 9001 or similar) preferred.

    + Strong interdepartmental communication, presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills.

    + High drive for organization and structure.

    + Personally accountable for workload management.

    + Ability to think systematically to solve problems and streamline workflows.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a manufacturing facility. As part of a family-owned business, you will be part of a close-knit team and involved in various aspects of the business. This role is interactive, engaging with all levels of the company, rather than sitting in front of a computer all day.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Lake in the Hills, IL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
