About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered School Counselor to join our educational team and support students in Braintree. This role is ideal for a compassionate professional who is committed to fostering students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal development.
The School Counselor will provide direct counseling services, collaborate with educators and families, and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with diverse student populations across age groups.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support students’ social-emotional well-being, academic success, and personal growth.
+ Perform assessments and develop student support plans tailored to individual needs.
+ Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate counseling strategies into the school environment.
+ Provide consultation and guidance to families and caregivers regarding student needs, resources, and interventions.
+ Respond to crisis situations and provide short-term, solution-focused support.
+ Maintain accurate documentation and update student plans as progress is made or needs evolve.
+ Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote mental health, positive behavior, and a safe learning environment.

Minimum Requirements:
+ Licensing/Certification according to state/facility/contract requirement
+ The Counselor may be required to have an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Psychology, Addictions, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or some other Human Development major per state, contract and/or facility guidelines.
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
