The **_Data Analyst_** supports the University of Washington’s Institutional Analysis and Institutional Reporting teams by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of institutional data analysis and reporting processes. This role will support the automation of reporting by building dashboards and using advanced programming and reporting tools. The analyst also contributes to the documentation of processes and business rules that underpin reporting and analysis projects and will have the opportunity to learn and apply advanced data analysis techniques, including machine learning and econometric modeling. Through collaboration and technical expertise, this position supports data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the University’s data infrastructure.
Duties & Responsibilities
Data Analytics and Project Support
+ Support institutional data projects and analytics initiatives that advance reporting accuracy and data-informed decision-making
+ Applyappropriate analyticalmethods and tools thatfacilitatetrend analysis, forecasting, and performance measurement
+ Apply statistical programming and advanced querying to extract and analyze complex institutional datasets
Report and Dashboard Development
+ Design, develop, andmaintainreports and dashboards using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and advanced Excel
+ Automate recurring reporting processes to increase efficiency and consistency
+ Create visualizations and analytical summaries that clearly communicate insights to institutional stakeholders
Collaboration and Data Accuracy
+ Collaborate with Institutional Analysis, Institutional Reporting, and other campus units to ensure data consistency and accuracy
+ Provide consultative support to departments on data interpretation, governance, and best practices
+ Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that improve data integrity and transparency
Strategic Insights and Independent Project Management
+ Provideanalytical insights that inform institutional planning, policy development, and resource allocation
+ Manage analytics and reporting tasks independently, exercising judgment in prioritizing and executing complex assignments
+ Communicate technical and analytical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
+ Participate in team initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
+ Train and cross train team across the team and organization to ensure organizational sustainability and operational continuity
+ Other duties as assigned
Requirement:
+ Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Social Sciences or a related field, and two years of experience in business intelligence, or related technical roles
+ Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and automation techniques
+ Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau and Power BI for reporting and dashboard development
+ Proficiencyin SQL or similar data querying languages to extract and manipulate data from institutional databases
+ Experience conducting data validation, quality assurance, and troubleshooting data inconsistencies
+ Basic understanding of data modeling concepts and experienceassistingin data model development
+ Experience with statistical programming languages such as R or Python is a plus
+ Strong data visualization and presentation skills to communicate insights effectively
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and translate technical information for non-technical audiences
+ Ability to manage multiple analytics tasks independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
+ Demonstrated experience in working with diverse groups and teams; create a culture of inclusion and equity throughout the team while supporting the overall culture of FPB
Desired:
+ Experience supporting enrollment data projects or institutional analytics in higher education
+ Knowledge of data governance and compliance reporting standards
+ Familiarity with automation of reporting processes and scripting for data workflows
+ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous process improvement
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$61,080.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$79,008.00 annual
