The Associate Designer, Kids Textiles, is an important designer role within the brand’s Design and Development department that helps build the future vision of Crate & Barrel through innovative product design. This position will own design and support the creation of the wall art, seasonal and soft accessories and soft seating categories in support of the Associate Director, and help manage the daily functions of the design area including the ownership of technical development briefs, color checking, and sample development management.

A Day in the Life of an Associate Designer, Kids Textiles...

+ Own the product design process for a specific product line

+ Create presentations of key cross-functional design milestones

+ Design original surface patterns and CAD’s for the product lines

+ Own the development of technical product design specifications and CADs

+ Own product amendment comments and revisions through the design development and sampling process

+ Maintain seasonal concept documents and design records

+ Develop set up of category presentations for product and assortment reviews

+ Partner with sourcing team to maintain swatch libraries

+ Manage design samples through their entire lifecycle

+ Manage color checking and approvals for textile categories

+ Organize and maintain sample storage and review spaces

What you'll bring to the table...

+ Passion for design, style and decorating and knowledge of design and art history

+ Ability to interact and collaborate with senior members of the team and major vendors with experience on product development

+ Ability to translate business and design objectives into successful products

+ Ability to paint in various styles to support the team with print and pattern needs

+ Communicate effectively and efficiently with all company associates and business contacts.

+ Strength in building effective cross functional relationships to achieve results

+ Support and model excellent service to internal and external customers in all forms of action and communication

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

+ 3+ years experience working in Textile home or fashion and manufacturing/retail industry

+ Experience with technical design and design brief creation

+ Strong hand sketching and concept generation

+ AA, BFA or MA in Textile Design or any related design field

+ Strong knowledge of design and art history

+ Strong Technical knowledge and experience with Procreate

+ Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite- Photoshop and Illustrator essential
