Aspirus Ironwood Hospital in Ironwood, MI is seeking a MANAGER- LABORATORY to join our LABORATORY t eam!

The Laboratory Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the lab. The lab manager will supervise employees, including scheduling, performance evaluation and proficiency testing. The manager will schedule and lead staff meetings. The manager will also be involved in technology advances and equipment purchases. The lab manager is accountable for the quality and timeliness of service, management of laboratory employees, and assisting in the development and adherence to the laboratory budget. Also, responsible for coordinating and marketing the laboratory’s reference services. The laboratory manager must have an ability to communicate effectively and with a positive professional demeanor, orally and in writing, with employees and other members of the health care team, representatives of external regulatory agencies, and service consumers in alignment with our hospital mission. The laboratory manager is responsible for the preparation for accreditation surveys.

HOURS: Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period.

Experience/Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and must be registered or registration eligible (ASCP or AMT).

+ Three years experience in high-complexity laboratory testing.

+ Must demonstrate management and supervisory skills, and an ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with a positive professional demeanor.

+ Must have completed an approved structured program in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology or have equivalent knowledge as defined by federal/state regulations.

Aspirus Ironwood Hospital includes a 25-bed critical access hospital, multi-specialty clinic, satellite clinic in Wisconsin, surgical clinic, walk-in clinic and a home health agency. Ironwood's service area covers approximately 30,000 people. The hospital has a 4 bed ICU, 3 bed OB unit, and 4 surgical units. The emergency department is staffed 24/7 with ER physicians, with approximately 12,000 visits annually. The hospital's inpatient census is 10 patients per day. The outpatient clinic has over 50,000 visits annually.
