As a Customer Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in effectively communicating and resolving plant Quality Concern Notifications (QCNs). You will be the key interface with Quality teams at both OEM and supplier levels, ensuring seamless communication and problem resolution. Your knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes, ability to facilitate supplier visits, and deploy resources from the corporate office will be essential in supporting multiple shifts and addressing quality concerns.
Responsibilities
+ Communicate effectively and promptly when plant Quality Concern Notifications (QCNs) are issued.
+ Present status of issue resolution to plant management teams.
+ Act as the key interface with Quality teams at OEM and Supplier levels.
+ Facilitate visits from the supplier's corporate office.
+ Deploy resources from the corporate office as needed.
+ Understand supplier design responsibilities and parts with Multi Party Agreements or Bailment Agreements.
+ Maintain knowledge of specifications, SCs, and CCs.
+ Provide daily support and manage responsibilities across multiple shifts.
+ Participate in investigations of emerging quality concerns with Incoming Quality and PVT teams.
+ Ensure defective parts returned to the supplier are delivered promptly.
+ Ensure clean cutoff of issues at the OEM plant, including parts in transit and in trailers.
+ Verify certified stock usage on the line and quarantine or return suspect stock.
+ Understand the part return process for parts shipped out of the OEM assembly plant.
+ Possess the means to test and check parts functionally and visually.
+ Drive closure to all issues and communicate status through PCA to affected parties.
+ Handle Stage 1 disputes with IQ and attend IQ Binning meetings when applicable.
+ Support Bi-Weekly Top Supplier Meetings and daily Plant Quality Meetings as required.
+ Communicate concerns to IQ, PVT/VRT, and STA if parts are not handled properly.
+ Participate in color harmony meetings and obtain OEM plant clean points.
+ Follow up with plant contacts to ensure timely 8D submissions.
+ Facilitate warranty parts shipment to suppliers and ensure timely delivery.
+ Stay familiar with open BSAQ projects and coordinate with Resident STA, PVT Engineer, or VRT team.
+ Participate with STA and VRT during investigations of emerging ECB with potential supplier manufacturing contribution.
Essential Skills
+ 1-4 years of experience in automotive resident engineering.
+ BS Engineering Degree or equivalent STEM major.
+ Fluency in Spanish and English.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ 8D experience.
+ Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience in injection molding and plastic fabrication.
+ Knowledge of quality defects on molded components.
+ Experience in Wire Harness Engineering and troubleshooting.
+ Skills in testing and validation software.
+ Understanding of vehicle electrical structures.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
+ Demonstrated ability to adapt, learn continuously, and hold others accountable for results.
+ Willingness to travel locally and nationally.
Work Environment
The home base for this position is in Troy, MI, with local travel to multiple OEM plants in Michigan. Occasional national travel is also required.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Troy, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $39.00/hr.
