    Job Title: Hardware Test Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will execute and monitor test procedures on various hardware components and systems, perform initial debugging, and analyze test data to ensure product performance meets specified requirements.

    Responsibilities

    + Execute established test procedures on hardware components and systems such as PCBs, embedded systems, and prototypes, following detailed instructions.

    + Monitor tests at internal and external labs to ensure correct operation and capture relevant data.

    + Perform initial debugging and failure analysis of test setup to identify root causes of hardware and/or software anomalies.

    + Utilize standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers, to probe, measure, and troubleshoot issues.

    + Perform mechanical test setup using aluminum extrusion, hand tools, and typical scrappy test setup techniques.

    + Analyze test data and results to confirm product performance against specified requirements.

    + Document and log defects/bugs with organized notes using internal tracking systems, including steps to reproduce, observed behavior, and system configuration.

    + Prepare clear, concise, and accurate test reports summarizing test progress, execution status, and key findings.

    + Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Design, Firmware, and Mechanical Engineering, to discuss test results and potential issues.

    + Maintain the organization and operational readiness of the testing environment and equipment.

    + Assist senior engineers with re-testing fixes and verifying successful resolution of defects.

    + Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a similar field.

    + Experience with Python for automating repetitive tasks, analyzing data, and working within larger testing frameworks.

    + Working knowledge of test equipment, including thermal chambers, vibe tables, liquid chillers, power supplies, electronic loads, and DAQs.

    + Multidisciplinary experience across ME/EE, with expertise in one and knowledge in the other.

    + Experience working in a Linux environment and networking.

    + Experience with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB for data processing or simple test automation.

    + Familiarity with common communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, and UART.

    + Prior experience in a lab setting or with hands-on hardware projects.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with build automation.

    + Experience doing thermal vibe testing.

    + Familiarity with automotive communication protocols, such as CAN and CAN-FD.

    + Familiarity with the test/operation of brushless motors.

    Work Environment

    This position is based on-site in Pittsburgh. The role involves working closely with various testing equipment and maintaining the operational readiness of the testing environment.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $73.00/hr.
