Drafter – Utility Infrastructure Projects
Company Overview:
An Orange County-based utility contractor specializing in Fire Risk Mitigation, Service Planning, Field Inspections, Deteriorated Pole Replacement, Base Mapping, EV Charging Station Design, Plot Layout & Design, Site Planning, and Permitting. Their team supports critical infrastructure projects for Southern California Edison (SCE) and is seeking a skilled Drafter to join our growing team.
Position Summary:
The Drafter will play a key role in supporting SCE distribution infrastructure projects by producing accurate and timely drafting deliverables. This is a remote position, requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with planners and engineers.
Responsibilities:
+ Produce high-quality drafting deliverables within established timelines.
+ Prepare various drafts for utility poles and reconductor projects.
+ Understand project scope and requirements to ensure accuracy.
+ Collaborate effectively with planners and engineers to resolve issues.
+ Create base maps for multiple departments using provided data.
+ Perform quality checks on all work prior to lead review.
+ Maintain familiarity with project standards, data management practices, and expectations.
+ Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills to address challenges.
+ Ensure consistent workflow while maintaining attention to detail.
Skills & Qualifications:
+ 1+ year of experience in civil, underground, or electrical utility drafting.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD (required).
+ Experience with AUD (AutoCAD Utility Design) is required.
+ Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
+ Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fullerton, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
