    Job Description

    We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for product development to join our engineering team. This role involves developing innovative fire protection solutions through design, prototyping, and testing. Ideal candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with technicians to bring ideas to life.

    Responsibilities

    + Create detailed designs and prototypes, ensuring compliance with international standards.

    + Lead or support experimental test programs and prototype development.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, research, and compliance.

    + Prepare and present technical reports, design layouts, and performance evaluations.

    + Ensure timely execution of tasks in alignment with stage-gate development milestones.

    + Support manufacturing processes.

    + Conduct product redesign and manage approval processes.

    + Perform product warranty evaluations.

    + Apply engineering principles, mathematics, and physical sciences to solve complex problems.

    + Provide technical insights on materials, processes, and manufacturability.

    + Coordinate and lead design reviews, testing plans, and project meetings.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.

    + 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience.

    + Strong design experience.

    + Hands-on lab experience working with technicians.

    + Experience with the full product development lifecycle, including prototyping and testing.

    + Strong documentation and organizational skills.

    + Ability to work independently and strategize test plans without predefined protocols.

    + Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in automotive or other regulated industries.

    + Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).

    + Understanding of stage-gate methodologies and time-sensitive project execution.

    + Exposure to manufacturing processes.

    Work Environment

    This position is based onsite in the Providence, RI area where all design, testing, and prototyping are conducted. Engineers will have the opportunity to see their designs being tested and built. The work environment is highly collaborative, and team members are encouraged to engage in all aspects of the product lifecycle.

    This is a Contract position based out of Providence, RI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
