    Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

     

    This role involves OEM service repair of customer-owned test and measurement instruments, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and analyzers. The instruments are often 15-20 years old and require diagnostic and decision-based work rather than production or assembly-line tasks.

    Responsibilities

    + Repair customer-owned test and measurement instruments.

    + Conduct diagnostic tests using automated test stations.

    + Review and analyze test data outputs to identify failures in components such as the front-end board, acquisition board, or motherboard.

    + Make technical decisions on whether to repair or swap boards, coordinating with assemblers and calibration operators as needed.

    + Ensure instruments pass all tests before they are shipped back and billed to the customer.

    Essential Skills

    + Formal electronics foundation through an Associate’s degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology, technical trade school, or military technical background.

    + Strong understanding of general electronics fundamentals.

    + Ability to perform logical and algorithmic troubleshooting.

    + Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and test data.

    + Experience with automated testing procedures and tools.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Understanding of analog and digital electronics.

    + Knowledge of how circuit boards and systems interact.

    + Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting using data to identify root causes.

    + Familiarity with reading block diagrams and system-level testing.

    + Experience in a service environment and customer-facing communication skills.

    + Familiarity with Tektronix, Keysight, or Anritsu instruments is beneficial but not required.

    Work Environment

    The position is set in a manufacturing environment with a focus on testing and repair. You will have your own workspace to conduct repairs and diagnostics. The role offers benefits such as 2 weeks of PTO and holidays. The work involves supporting legacy equipment, which requires careful attention to detail and precision.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaverton, OR.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
