Job Description Summary:
Assist Registered Nurse in providing direct patient care to multiple patients at a time on a designated nursing unit.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Assist patients with daily living activities including bathing, eating, walking, grooming, and going to the bathroom and any necessary clean-up of patient, bed, and room associated with this..
Ensure a clean and safe environment in patient rooms on unit.
Accurately perform and document routine vital checks on patients including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, pulse, intake and output, etc.
May assist in telemetry cardiac monitoring, recognizing life threatening arrhythmias and communicating immediately to Registered Nurse.
Assist with movement of patients and adjustment of patients' bed to provide comfort and assure patient safety and well-being. May also assist in transportation of patients and beds within hospital setting.
Assist in the monitoring of patients that have been identified as a potential risk to themselves.
Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for patient care operations.
Secures and handles appropriate supplies, medications, and lab specimens transported from/into and within the unit.
Performs other duties related to direct patient care as designated by the Registered Nurse including, but not limited to, finger stick glucose testing, urine dipstick, non-sterile specimen collection, occult fecal, nasogastric tube care, 12 lead EKG and catheter, colostomy bag and simple clean (non-sterile) dressing changes.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
Additional Job Description:
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
CPR certified. Basic PC skills required to manage patient information and ensure effective clinical workflows and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). BLS Certification
