Description
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Patient registration – Collect accurate patient data, patient scheduling, patient outreach/reminder scheduling, and support referrals/outpatient testing.
+ Primary accounting – Collect copays/balances, courteous collections of past due accounts, support clinic operations as needed, and assist with maintaining appropriate supplies as needed.
+ Use of Technology- Proficient use of clinical software, eligibility services, telecommunication, and peripheral scanning devices.
+ Digital Data Management - Accurately identify and assign patient data through critical assessment of documents to support care coordination and interprofessional communication.
+ Communication - Communicate professionally and adapt to the communication preferences or needs based upon the intended audience. Support alternative means of communication for patients and presents a positive and empathetic first point of contact for all contact via phone, portal, digital or print correspondence.
+ Regulatory Requirement Support – Accurately and consistently obtain written documentation including patient identification, consents, notification of privacy practices, adhere to all elements of HIPAA, FERPA, and Red Flags.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
+ Required: High school plus one-year technical training or schooling.
+ Less than one year work experience required. One to three years work experience preferred.
+ Post hire- PSC's will complete HIPAA and FERPA training necessary for institutional compliance. Red Flag training will also be required due to use of payment processing devices. PSC's will be required to complete skill competency courses for all electronic platforms including EHR vendors and peripheral solutions, vaccine eligibility database, and all other trainings as needed to support.
Knowledge:
+ HIPPA, FERPA, Red Flag training
Skills:
+ PSC's must be team oriented and be flexible in working within their department to prioritize coverage of phones necessary for patient care.
+ Compassion, courtesy, and positivity are needed for daily interactions with patients as well as staff.
+ PSC's must also have excellent communication skills.
+ Employees handling payments must also demonstrate attention to detail and ethical guidelines.
Abilities:
