Description
The Linear Operations Manager will lead daily and long-term operations of the Amazon Live free ad-supported (FAST) Channel. This role impacts the business by working cross functionally with Amazon Live Stakeholders, including Sr Leadership, Tech, Product, Production, Operations, and Marketing teams. The Linear Operations Manager will lead the scaling of the department in order to meet and anticipate the overall business needs of the organization. This role will contribute to at least one organizational goal, collaborate with technical and product teams on Amazon’s Shop the Show integration, and analyze programming data to influence business operations and scaling decisions. As the senior operations lead for the channel, you will own the overall strategy and drive teams across the organization to deliver. You will define objectives, analyze data, implement measurable improvements and influence resource allocation. This role operates in a high-visibility, live broadcast environment, requiring the ability to quickly resolve crises with cross-functional teams while maintaining maintaining composure.
Key job responsibilities
* Own and run the Operation of the Amazon Live 24/7 FAST Channel, working with stakeholders across all teams within the Amazon Live Org and working backwards to align organizational goals with the day-to-day needs of the Linear Channel
* Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the channel, including owning relationships with vendors, running daily staff meetings, maintaining best practices as it relates to Broadcasting (Video/Audio quality, Metadata, Playlisting within Amagi system, Live insertion), problem solving issues as they occur in a scalable manner, and managing budgets
* Develop, mentor, and scale a team of freelancers to support the goals of the channel, including expansion of the channel to multiple distribution points and increased live content outside of core business hours
* Create and implement multi-year strategy to scale the channel to include additional distribution endpoints and an unlimited number of live broadcasts per day
* Collaborate effectively with technical and product teams (both internal and external), breaking down complex technical and cross-functional requirements, including driving roadmap prioritization
* As part of Channel Leadership Team, own the technical pipeline which includes expert knowledge of industry trends which can be added seamlessly in order to further scale the operation.
* Act as Channel’s POC to other departments/organizations within Amazon, including Prime Video and FireTV (Live Operations, Product and overall PV FAST Business/Vendor relationships)
* On-call for select weekends and nights as needed for tech support needs of the channel
About the team
Amazon Shoppable Videos (ASV) is a growing business within the Amazon Advertising, IMDb and Grand Challenge business unit. ASV is delivering the video shopping experience to Amazon consumers, with a purpose to enable customers to find inspiration, information, entertainment, and community through videos at any point in their shopping journey. The ASV team designs, builds and operates both owned and operated destination experiences (amazon.com/live, Amazon Live FAST channel on Prime Video and FireTV Channels), as well as federated experiences across the Amazon.com website. The channel, which launched in 2024, features Amazon’s “shop the show” technology that enables customers to more seamlessly browse, shop, and engage with content they are watching on the TV screen by using their mobile device.
As the Linear Operations Manager you will wield significant influence in shaping the functionality and scale of linear operations.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience completing complex tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround
- Knowledge of deliverables and technical specs for streaming assets
- * 10+ years of technical broadcast experience, preferably in a streaming environment
- * Hands on experience operating broadcast playlists using Amagi, Frequency, Crispin, or others
- * Independent creative and technical decision making on content selection, playlist, and live operations in a fast paced environment without having time to always check with other stakeholders
- * Knowledge of technical streaming protocols (rtmp, SRT, HLS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, macros, SQL, visualization tools - Tableau, Quicksight, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $199,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
