    The position of Mechanical Engineering Support, reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain will provide engineering and shop support as needed. The primary function of the role is to help those at the site to be as efficient as possible by providing the necessary mechanical engineering support for constructability to allow them to focus on the value-added parts of their roles and stay on track and on time. Specifically, a fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and a talent for problem solving are requirements as custom engineered solutions are common for both the safe installation and determination of the constructability of complex mechanical systems. This role will be responsible for overseeing a variety of tasks ranging from setting the shipping schedule to managing site/shop tools to determining the disposition of returns. This is a multifaceted working opportunity.

     

    Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

    Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    • Review shop drawings for both steel structures and piping assemblies for accuracy and constructability.

    • Actively work with the fabrication shops to help design and implement more efficient tooling and safe construction methods.

    • Support the fabrication shops by gathering information required to complete the project. This can include material tracking, dimensional issues, quality control, shipping and loading issues, and sourcing specialty tools/equipment.

    • Provide support to the Supply Chain department (Shipping/ Logistics/Procurement).

    • Download Mill Test Reports (MTRs) and save them into a database.

    • Accurately determine heat numbers and match them to coordinating MTRs.

    • Work effectively in a professional environment.

    • Maintain confidentiality while working efficiently, accurately and timely.

    • Communicate and coordinate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.

    Supervisory / Budgetary / External Communication Responsibility

    • This is an individual contributor role that will support the supply chain organization, the shop, and the field.

    Knowledge, skill and ability requirements (competencies required for job performance)

    • Consistent dependability and availability.

    • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced office environment.

    • Aptitude to quickly learn new computer software systems.

    • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.

    • Keen attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and strong problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Prior work experience and educational requirements

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

    • 2+ years of experience in the Pipe/Valves/Fittings industry.
