    About You and this role

     

    As aSenior Electrical Distribution EngineeratDow’s Freeport, TX Site, you will serve as a technical leadership resource for theTXO Power Distribution Operationsby applying technical skills and experience to optimize site electrical operations, resolve power distribution related challenges, and enable safe and uninterrupted power to Dow’s largest manufacturing complex. Requires broad conceptual and working knowledge and experience in electrical power transmission and distribution disciplines to perform a range of work assignments.

     

    The Texas Operations Power Distribution system operates an extensive distribution network at the 138kV, 15kV and 2.4kV levels with a 345kV tieline to the external ERCOT transmission system. The system distributes approximately 1300MW's to our partners with most of the power being generated by our internal operating power plants. This power system is operated by a team that includes the Power Dispatch function and our Operations and Maintenance organizations.

     

    This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027. At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company.

    Responsibilities:

    + Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem solving skills and technical expertise.

    + Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).

    + Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.

    + Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.

    + Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.

    + Acts as a technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

    + Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

    + Provides long term capital project development and planning oversight for our large power grid (2.4-345kV, 1+GW)

    + Collaboration with the Energy Improvement Director and Energy Tech Center for identifying, documenting, and communicating Electrical Distribution Gaps

    + Interface with all on site third party I-Park tenants and our external power transmission operator and QS

    + Provide front end Manufacturing Rep support for large electrical projects

    + Facilitate site Power Systems Review Team and Plant Improvement Team

    + Support overall technical development of our TXO Power Distribution Team

    Qualifications:

    + A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

    + A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

    + Prior experience in a power distribution role.

    + A minimum of 10 years in HV Electrical Engineering disciplines is preferred.

    + Professional Engineers License is preferred.

    + Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% annually and meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide.

    + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Your Skills:

    + Electricity: Strong understanding of electrical principles and systems.

    + Operations: Optimize plant operations and ensure compliance with EH&S and reliability standards.

    + Power Distribution: Experience managing power distribution networks at various voltage levels.

    + Power Systems: Expertise in high voltage power projects, power flow studies, and contingency planning.

    + Reliability: Lead root cause investigations, maintain performance measures, and champion continuous improvement.
