**Harborview Medical Center – VASCULAR LAB** has an outstanding opportunity for a **VASCULAR SONOGRAPHER - TCD** .
WORK SCHEDULE
- PER DIEM
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance of Ultrasound Studies
Assist in scheduling patients
Consult physician if necessary, to determine appropriate ultrasound procedures to be performed
Prepare patient for examination and explain testing procedure, follow AIDET
Monitor patients’ vital signs and or condition during the procedure
Perform CPR if necessary
Follow protocols for infection control with patients and equipment
Follow protocols in all areas of the hospital, including wearing appropriate PPE for OR, angio suite, isolation rooms
Perform calculations on data obtained including velocity, pulsatility indices, ratios, percent changes in velocity and pulsatility indices, average volume flow measurements, ARI, and lumen reduction
Independently perform and evaluate the following diagnostic exams:
Carotid duplex exam, complete and limited
Volume flow measurements
Reactive Hyperemia for Subclavian Steal testing
Continuous wave Doppler of the extracranial arteries
Transcranial Doppler
Transcranial Imaging
Emboli Monitoring, arterial and venous
C02 Challenge
Agitated Saline for PFO
Autoregulation testing, Static and Tilt
Orbital imaging
Graft Imaging, extracranial to intracranial bypass
Giant Cell Arteritis protocol
Superficial temporal artery imaging
Head Rotation protocol
Monitoring during carotid endarterectomy
Intraoperative imaging of brain and spinal cord
Research protocols
Enter TCD and or duplex data into EPIC, using current available templates, for all patients. Examinations for in-patients need to be entered immediately after the ultrasound exam. Data entry for out-patients may wait one day if you are scheduled to work. All preliminary findings are communicated to the ordering provider or Cores Contact.
Archive all exams
Maintain Vascular Log Database
Complete all necessary paperwork
Follow, perform, and analyze Research protocols
Identify patients who qualify for research
Analyze data from database or other spreadsheets
Teaching and Publications
Provide instruction in theory, techniques, applications, and analysis of exams to physicians, fellows, residents, students, preceptors, conference attendees and other medical personnel.
Present and publish relevant educational and research in vascular journals and or at vascular meetings
Develop teaching materials including case studies
Quality Improvement and correlations
Organize and tabulate data for TCD and Graft Imaging correlations to angiograms and CTAs to establish accuracy
Review assigned case studies for IAC Quality Control
Participate in monthly Quality Improvement conference, presenting cases for group education and discussion
Participate in quarterly meetings with Attending reading physicians and present case study
Assist in Lab maintenance. Turn in supply orders, clean equipment, stock supplies
Evaluate new equipment
Follow Substitute Lead Responsibilities when applicable
Maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) for Vascular credential and IAC
Bi-annual basic CPR
Annual Core Competencies
Fire Warden renewal
Agitated Saline annual competency
Perform and analyze exams with independent judgement to tailor preliminary findings to the data and patients’ clinical presentation
Relay results to the greater team
Analyze research data, write scientific abstracts, submit manuscripts to medical journals
Present scientific research and clinical findings at medical professional meetings
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a training program accredited by the American Medical Association - Committee on Allied Health Education (AMA-CAHEA) for vascular ultrasound
AND
- Possess current registration as a Registered Vascular Technologist through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
OR Equivalent education/experience.
