    Overview

     

    This position involves meticulously reviewing and editing material to correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, brand, tone, and style across a diverse array of media, including direct mail, email, radio and video scripts, social and web content, pitches, and presentations. A successful Copy Editor also ensures uniformity across all channels, while maintaining the creative intent and persuasive power of the original text. By collaborating closely with Copywriters, Art Directors, and Account and Program Management Teams, they contribute to crafting effective and impactful communications that resonate with target audiences and support strategic marketing objectives.

    Responsibilities

    + Edit and proofread all client projects, ensuring they are error-free, grammatically and factually correct, consistent internally and across assets, and in line with client brand standards

    + Demonstrate expertise, precision, and the ability to work as a team player in a very fast-paced and fast-moving agency environment

    + Handle a large volume of work quickly and accurately

    + Offer suggestions/rewrite copy where necessary to improve clarity and readability

    + Transcribe meetings

    + Adhere to copy styles and product guidelines per client brand standards

    + Fact-check names, dates, statistics, and product claims to maintain credibility

    + Flag potentially problematic language that could raise legal or regulatory issues

    + Create, maintain, and update internal Copy Editing style sheet

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field

    + 3–5 years of Copy Editing and Proofreading experience

    + Expert understanding of the English language, grammar, and elements of effective writing

    + Proven ability to identify and correct grammatical, typographical, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors, along with inconsistencies and factual mistakes

    + Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, and simultaneously handle multiple projects with accuracy and attention to detail

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus research skills across all mediums

    + Experience using digital project management/proofreading platforms (e.g., Workfront/ProofHQ, Figma), Microsoft 365, and various other tools as needed

    + Experience using client brand guidelines, plus industry style guides (e.g., AP Stylebook)

    + Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Acrobat)

    + Box

    + Figma

    + Frame.io

    + Google Sheets

    + Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams

    Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per year. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
