8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.
Responsibilities
MATERIALS SUPERVISOR
The Plant Materials Supervisor position is accountable for leading the releasing functions for our business. This role sets a vision and works through functional leadership to build core processes, procedures, and team capabilities to deliver on shipping, receiving, material handling, planning, scheduling, and inventory management objectives in a timely and effective manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Lead direct reports in planning and inventory management functions through the build-out of core operating processes. Leverage established systems and processes to drive effective, efficient, and compliant operations.
+ Builds effective communication channels between Plant Materials Management function and customer services, sales, quality control, maintenance, and warehousing functions to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner.
+ Lead the releases purchase orders off the blanket contracts to meet the production schedules.
+ Execute tasks with sense of urgency and expedite, cancel, or postpone purchase orders according to changing schedule requirements.
+ Lead and mentor the Materials Release Coordinator to ensure timely and efficient release and management of packaging and Ingredients using the MRP system.
+ Partner with Procurement function to build and deploy sustainable processes relating to materials release functions. Leverage data and customer relationships to ensure ready supply of ingredient/packaging materials are available to support production planning needs.
+ Utilize team to identify gaps in material loss. Develop strategies to drive to goal of zero-base waste.
+ Oversees and owns the annual operating budget for the materials management, and inventory management functions, in a controlled approach.
+ Manage inbound required documents from suppliers for QA and Receiving department.
+ Lead to resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies with the Vendors.
+ Manage and maintain reject/returns of packaging and ingredient.
+ Support rationalization, transition, and discontinuation of SKU’s by minimizing stock on hand liability.
+ Other duties, as assigned.
Education & Experience Required:
+ Bachelors’ Degree in business, supply chain, production planning, or related field.
+ 5+ years’ team or project leadership experience.
+ Advanced proficiency Microsoft Excel functions (formula development, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting, text-to-columns, etc.).
+ Previous experience working with inventory management and ERP system.
+ Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and extra hours, as needed.
Preferred Education, Experience, And Skills:
+ Previous experience with JD Edwards ERP system.
+ Previous experience with inventory control.
+ Previous experience leading a warehouse function.

+ Must be able to sit and stand for 7+ hours per day.
+ Must be able to walk for 1+ hours per day.
+ Must be able to work in dusty and high heat/humidity 1+ hours per day, if needed.
+ Must be able to feel and perform fine manipulation 6+ hours per day.
+ Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken and written words and distinguish object or equipment visually.
