    Position Summary:

    Florida Atlantic University is seeking a TRIO Advisor. - Boca Raton, FL.

     

    The TRIO Advisor is responsible for providing direct advising, mentoring, and outreach services to TRIO participants. The TRIO Advisor plays a vital role in ensuring that TRIO participants receive comprehensive, equitable, and timely support aligned with federal project objectives. This position is responsible for conducting site visits, facilitating educational workshops, and providing individualized interventions that address academic, personal, and professional development needs. The TRIO Advisor will also monitor student progress, assess service delivery, and support alumni engagement.

    Summary of responsibilities:

    Field-Based Student Support:

    + Conduct regular site visits to schools and community locations to provide in-person advising, mentoring, and check-ins with TRIO participants.

    + Deliver one-on-one academic advising and recovery planning for students experiencing academic challenges or excessive absenteeism.

    + Develop and maintain Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) to support student progress.

    + Coordinate “drop-back-in” outreach for students who have disengaged or withdrawn, supporting re-enrollment and re-engagement.

    + Support recruitment by identifying eligible students, guiding families through the intake process, and promoting program visibility through fieldwork and digital engagement.

    Wellness & Crisis Response:

    + Identify and respond to barriers such as homelessness, food insecurity, abuse, and mental health concerns by connecting students to appropriate campus and community resources.

    + Serve as a liaison to campus and community-based support services, ensuring students are connected to appropriate resources.

    + Maintain confidentiality and follow mandated reporting protocols for student safety and well-being.

    Program Implementation & Outreach:

    + Plan and execute workshops and seminars on topics such as academic recovery, time management, navigating TRIO platforms, balancing school/work/family, housing instability, and understanding TRIO services.

    + Lead college tours and field trips to postsecondary campuses.

    + Provide training and support to instructors and site partners to ensure alignment with TRIO goals and compliance requirements.

    + Assist with Summer Programming to provide year-round structured opportunities for academic support, college readiness, retention, re-engagement, and compliance-driven service delivery.

    + Maintain collaborative relationships with schools, families, and community partners to strengthen program visibility and impact.

    Compliance & Data Integrity:

    + Review and assess participant files to ensure services align with IAPs and federal TRIO objectives.

    + Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, student progress, and referrals in accordance with TRIO and institutional guidelines.

    + Assist with data collection, Annual/KPI reporting, and evaluation of program outcomes.

    Alumni Engagement:

    + Develop and maintain systems for tracking alumni outcomes and fostering ongoing engagement.

    + Coordinate alumni outreach efforts, including surveys, events, and mentorship opportunities for current students.

    + Integrate alumni engagement strategies with postsecondary completion tracking and stop‑out analysis to ensure continued alignment with TRIO performance objectives.

    + Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of appropriate experience required.

     

    Written and oral communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, strong time management and customer service skills required.

    Salary:

    $48,000 per year.
