    Job Title: QA TechnicianJob Description

     

    As a QA Technician, you will ensure the quality and safety of food products through comprehensive quality checks, auditing, and reporting. You will be responsible for sampling and testing incoming ingredients and packaging supplies, maintaining accurate records, and using lab equipment for quality tests. Additionally, you will conduct audits of finished products and production lines and communicate effectively with line leads and production supervisors regarding any quality issues.

    Responsibilities

    + Verify food quality and food safety through quality checks, auditing, and reporting, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP.

    + Sample and test incoming ingredients and packaging supplies.

    + Maintain accurate records and results of quality assurance tests.

    + Use lab equipment to perform quality tests, including metal content, weight, and temperature checks.

    + Conduct audits of finished products and production lines.

    + Communicate effectively with Line Lead and Production Supervisor about packaging and quality issues.

    + Dispose of off-quality or improper product and materials in designated areas.

    + Conduct line inspections for cleanliness and perform visual quality checks of packaged and finished products.

    + Collect and retain samples needed for customers and micro samples.

    + Document product records in computer systems using MS Excel and Access.

    + Assist production in packing, boxing, and labeling finished products.

    Essential Skills

    + Bilingual in Spanish and English with strong oral and written communication skills.

    + Basic math skills.

    + Ability to work independently and handle several tasks concurrently.

    + Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.

    + Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 2-year or 4-year degree in Food Science or a related field preferred but not required.

    + 1-2 years of Food QA experience, willing to consider candidates with no technical degree.

    + HACCP certification and experience in a food environment preferred but not required. Willing to provide certification.

    + Experience with SQF and USDA preferred but not required.

    Work Environment

    You will spend approximately 85% of your time on the production floor and 15% in the office. The facility is a meat processing and production environment, mainly involving beef and pork. It includes a cold storage area, and you should be comfortable working in temperatures around 45 degrees for extended periods. The shift is between 2nd and 3rd, starting between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm and ending between 11:00 pm and 2:00 am, depending on when the work is completed. Overtime is compensated for hours worked over 40 per week, typically involving 8-10 hours of overtime weekly.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
