Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
Join our ENT/Allergy team as a Medical Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. You will manage patient flow, provide patient education, and coordinate various administrative and clinical tasks.
Responsibilities
+ Control the flow of the clinic to ensure efficient operations.
+ Provide patient teaching and education.
+ Send prescriptions as needed.
+ Place referrals as ordered during visits and coordinate with office nurses.
+ Place and log lab orders for tracking purposes.
+ Coordinate surgery scheduling with the scheduler and manage related paperwork.
+ Send tasks to office nurses for items that cannot be completed in the clinic.
+ Perform scanning duties as needed to assist with clinic operations.
+ Set up and assist with minor in-office procedures.
+ Process and sterilize instruments.
+ Provide office nurses with an end-of-day log summary, including surgery patients, referrals, and follow-up items.
Essential Skills
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
+ 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant and surgery scheduler.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
+ Medical Assistant diploma.
+ Strong clerical and organizational skills, with a solid understanding of insurance processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in ENT or Allergy is a plus.
+ Experience with triage and taking vitals.
+ Willingness to travel to Virginia Beach and Norfolk locations as needed.
+ Back office experience.
Work Environment
You will primarily work at the Norfolk location but may need to travel to Virginia Beach locations 1-2 times per week. The hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with weekends off. The practice features a diverse range of physicians specializing in various ENT & Allergy areas, providing an educational environment with opportunities for growth. Every patient in the waiting room may be there for different treatments, from plastic surgery to cancer care.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
