    Job Title: Motion and Controls Engineer

    Job Description

    As a Motion and Controls Engineer within the Flight Dynamics Group, you will be a highly motivated and self-driven team player responsible for developing, integrating, testing, and documenting motion and flight control simulations for a variety of fixed and rotary-wing commercial and military aircraft. This role demands a strong background in aerodynamics, mechatronics, and servo design, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic prototyping environment.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop aircraft test plans and provide on-site data collection support.

    + Post-process aircraft test data and prepare simulator verification data roadmaps.

    + Design simulator motion and control loading systems.

    + Develop aircraft motion and flight control simulation math models and software to execute these models in real-time.

    + Integrate simulation models with simulator hardware, computers, software, and other simulated systems.

    + Prepare simulator qualification test guides and acceptance test procedures.

    + Participate in domestic and international simulator acceptance and qualification events with customers, military organizations, and commercial regulatory agencies.

    + Prepare math model reports and associated simulator documentation.

    + Participate in system requirements, design, and test reviews.

    + Collaborate with other multi-disciplined engineering groups to ensure that overall simulator performance and quality standards are achieved.

    + Maintain currency with the latest domestic and international flight simulator regulations and technologies.

    + Provide technical content for proposals and technical specifications.

    Essential Skills

    + 4-5 years of experience, preferably in developing/integrating flight dynamic models and creating Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) in the flight simulation industry.

    + Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

    + Experience with feedback control systems.

    + Experience with real-time modeling.

    + Proficiency with modern software systems, including C/C++, Python, Linux, Git.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Rigorous understanding of servo control and stability.

    + In-depth understanding of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft flight control systems.

    + Knowledge of motion, vibration, and buffet simulation methods.

    + Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

    + Strategic innovator with critical thinking skills.

    + Strong work ethic, accountability, and integrity.

    + Professional and diplomatic demeanor.

    + Ability to travel for extended periods domestically and internationally up to 25% annually.

    + Preferred experience designing 6DOF motion systems and/or control loading systems.

    + Field experience with aircraft testing.

    + Piloting knowledge of fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing aircraft.

    Work Environment

    The position follows a 9/80 work schedule and is onsite. The work involves collaborating with a large organization, offering a competitive market environment. The work is unique and interesting, with opportunities for continued growth and learning.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Daytona Beach, FL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
