The Staff Civil/Structural Engineer plays a crucial role in project teams, ensuring the creation of world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments with a focus on marine structures such as piers, wharfs, bulkheads, and fender systems. This position demands a balance between design integrity and project constraints by developing comprehensive civil and structural plans that meet technical requirements, budget, and client expectations.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with Senior Civil/Structural Engineers to lead the civil/structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through to design completion.
+ Design and analyze civil/structural components for a variety of projects.
+ Apply advanced knowledge of civil/structural engineering design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
+ Conduct research and compile project-related data, studies, and reports.
+ Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and other engineering documents.
+ Lead client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
+ Perform and oversee field inspections, measurements, and calculations.
+ Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Comply with all policies and standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program, or a Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in civil/structural engineering, preferably in a consulting environment.
+ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain one within a year.
+ Advanced knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, and RISA-3D.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits. It offers the option for 9/80 scheduling. The company operates as an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) entity, fostering a collaborative and rewarding work culture.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
