Multi-Machine Operator
Job Description
The Multi-Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating equipment for operations such as sawing, broaching, stamping, drilling, and tapping. These operations are performed on items that are similar in nature but vary in size.
Responsibilities
+ Set up and operate production machinery and related equipment.
+ Read blueprints or job orders to understand product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
+ Select, position, and secure tools in tool holders.
+ Position and secure workpieces in holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers, or fixtures.
+ Move controls to position tools and workpieces in relation to each other, setting specified feeds, speeds, and depths of cut.
+ Change holding fixtures, tools, and tool holders as necessary.
+ Set up fixtures or feeding devices, start machines, and use handwheels to feed tools to workpieces.
+ Adjust speeds and feeds as needed.
+ Change dull or broken tooling and load/unload parts from machinery.
+ Direct the flow of coolant or cutting oil against tools and workpieces.
+ Replenish coolant reservoirs.
+ Observe machine operations and verify machined workpieces conform to specifications.
+ Maintain quality standards by checking and recording dimensions and notifying supervisors of any defects.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years experience as a CNC Operator.
+ Ability to perform full setups, with 3 setups per shift.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
+ Mechanical skills with hand and power tools, micrometers, calipers, and other measurement devices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma and/or CNC Trade School.
+ Experience with tape measure, metal finishing, grinding, sanding, assembly, sheet metal work, and metal fabrication.
+ Proficient in saw operation and fabrication of sheet metal.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
