As an IT Business Technical Analyst I / II, you will help connect business needs with technology solutions that keep our systems strong, efficient, and ready for the future. Using industry‑recognized practices such as the BABOK Guide and your experience with business analysis techniques, you’ll help teams clarify needs, reduce risk, and deliver technology. Your work strengthens daily operations at Palo Verde, enhances reliability for our customers, and supports a sustainable energy future for our state.
What your day would be like:
You are responsible for:
+ Elicit & Analyze Requirements: Use BABOK-aligned elicitation techniques to gather, clarify, and document requirements for new software implementations, upgrades, replacements, and enhancement work.
+ Design & Map Processes: Apply technical skills to create detailed process maps and flow diagrams that improve clarity, efficiency, and alignment across teams.
+ Identify Risks & Gaps: Use strong analytical abilities to interpret information, identify inconsistencies, and surface potential risks early in the process.
+ Support Testing & Quality: Develop manual test plans, coordinate User Acceptance Testing, and partner with stakeholders to ensure systems work as intended.
+ Manage SDLC Documentation: Utilize Azure DevOps and Modern Requirements to maintain clear, accurate system and project documentation.
+ Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with business partners, developers, and IT leadership to deliver reliable, effective technology solutions.

+ Skilled Business Analyst: Experience aligned with BABOK practices, including requirement elicitation, analysis, and documentation; IIBA membership or CBAP certification a plus.
+ Analytical & Detail‑Oriented: Able to identify gaps, interpret complex information, and strengthen decision‑making through clear insights.
+ Process‑Focused Thinker: Strong ability in process mapping, workflow analysis, and translating business needs into actionable system requirements.
+ Quality‑Driven Professional: Familiar with testing methods, UAT support, and ensuring solutions meet user and business expectations.
+ Collaborative Team Member: Strong communication skills and a commitment to the APS Promise—innovating with courage, empowering each other, and succeeding together.
+ Technical Confidence: Comfortable working with tools such as Microsoft Office (including Visio and Excel), Azure, Azure DevOps, and JIRA.
Minimum Requirements
IT Business Technical Analyst I | Palo Verde
+ Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
+ PLUS one (1) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
+ Requires basic technical subject matter knowledge within a job area or system
IT Business Technical Analyst II | Palo Verde
+ Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
+ PLUS two (2) year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
+ Requires working technical knowledge gained through experience within a job area or system
Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response
Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are a condition of employment at PVNGS.
Major Accountabilities
1) Analyzes basic business problems to be solved with automated systems
2) Conducts data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements
3) Participates in the elicitation, documentation, analysis, and validation of business processes, systems, and solution requirements
4) Assists in creating specifications for systems to meet business requirements
5) Provides assistance in documenting current business processes and models
6) Assists in identifying and evaluating systems and procedures that are cost effective, efficient, reliable, and meet user requirements
7) Executes unit integration and acceptance testing
8) Research components of solutions to problems

Hybrid Role:
Employees in hybrid roles will work both in their home offices and alongside their colleagues at an APS facility or other work location for meaningful in person engagement.
As of January 2025, hybrid-role employees will be asked to work about 40% of their time in person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
*Employees in Hybrid roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
