    Job Description

    Hiring Range: $24.12/hr to $30.14/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

     

    Reporting to the Associate Dean, Enrollment Management, the Admissions Assistant coordinates all aspects of the admission process related to program information dissemination, collection of electronic applications, and communication of admission and scholarship decisions. In addition, the Admissions Assistant supports the process for graduate assistantships, assisting with planning and coordinating admissions-related events, and supervises student employees. Specific job functions include prospective student customer service, application support, database maintenance, event planning, coordination of graduate assistantships, and other duties.

    Essential Functions of this position:

    Support day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office. Provide excellent customer service to prospective students and their families. Welcome and greet visitors in person or on the phone; answer e-mail or phone inquiries regarding academic programs and resources; provides information to students and their families regarding admissions and/or records and registration process and eligibility; interact with prospective students to follow up on missing or deficient information; resolve problems related to admissions process by clarifying concerns, determining cause of the problem, and advising the best solution. [30%]

     

    Assist with application process for approximately 900 or more MSW applicants. Review, verify, and assess applications and supporting documentation in accordance with established guidelines to determine admission eligibility; reviews documents to ensure accuracy and completeness through Slate CRM system. [30%]

     

    Coordinate various admissions-related events pre-and post-selection (i.e. information sessions (virtual and in-person), admitted student day, new student orientation). [15%]

     

    Collaborate and coordinate with Field Education and Student Services teams as part of the enrollment and registration processes for incoming students. [10%]

     

    Provide internal customer service and guidance to other departments within the School and within the University. [5%]

     

    Attend Graduate and Professional School Fairs, and other trade meetings (i.e. the Council in Social Work Education annual conference, and other recruitment fairs) as needed. [5%]

     

    Coordinate and maintain the application process for graduate assistants at BCSSW. [5%]

     

    The Admissions Assistant position is full-time. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required. Some travel, when appropriate. Light lifting may be required.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. At least two years of college admissions experience is preferred. The Admissions Assistant must be a self-starter, and able to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment. They must also possess excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. The ability to set priorities is imperative. The Admissions Assistant should also be a team player who is adaptable to change. Flexibility is a must. Be highly proficient in use of all standard office equipment. Proficient with PCs (Word and Excel), on-line student information systems, and other appropriate office equipment. Ability to represent Boston College and the School of Social Work in an outgoing and professional manner at public events.
