    Description

    Job Functions:

    Manages clinics’ operations related to assessing participants’ nutritional risk and needs, will prescribe supplemental food and provide individual/group nutrition counseling to WIC program participants. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-service training and other professional and staff development activities. Supervises clinic operations including but not limited to high risk counseling; development of lesson plans and special activities. Assists in organizing and maintaining of general nutrition education materials and displays in the WIC clinics including bulletin boards, pamphlets, food displays, etc. This supervisory position is responsible for supervising and managing WIC staff at Atlantic and Cape May counties. This role provides leadership for daily clinic operations, ensures compliance with State WIC guidelines, and supports the delivery of nutrition services to WIC participants. Will ensure accurate completion and timely submission of pertinent reports to the WIC Director, including nutrition education reports, evaluations, and other program documentation.

     

    Travel within Gateway CAP service area as required. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Will explain reason for certification and risk factors.

     

    Will discuss dangers of smoking/drug use/ alcohol use.

     

    Will give Nutrition education.

     

    Will offer breastfeeding information to pregnant and those currently breastfeeding.

     

    Will discuss recall/diet assessment.

     

    Will make appropriate referrals.

     

    Will explain what foods to buy, when to spend checks and where to spend checks.

     

    Will explain the food list.

     

    Education requirements: Master’s in nutrition/public health with Verification of IV/V or DPD from ADA preferred or Bachelor’s with an RD.

     

    Experience: At least two years of supervisory experience. Spanish speaking abilities - a plus!
