We are seeking an experienced **M2 Risk Engineering Manager** **to lead the strategy, design, and execution of account risk and fraud platforms that enable and protect a broad portfolio of Fintech products, including Payments, B2B, Bill Pay, Payroll, and Lending.**
This role owns the end-to-end delivery of account lifecycle risk management, from onboarding and authentication through continuous account monitoring, transaction risk, and post-transaction controls. You will lead a global organization of engineers, define multi-year technical and product roadmaps, and partner closely with Product, Analytics, Policy, Compliance, Identity, and Legal teams to balance growth, trust, and regulatory requirements at scale.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
+ Define and own the multi-year vision and roadmap for account risk platforms, supporting customer onboarding, authentication, transaction monitoring, and ongoing account health.
+ Lead and scale a global engineering organization, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and accountability.
+ Drive platform investment decisions that balance fraud loss reduction, customer experience, regulatory compliance, and Fintech product velocity.
Account Risk & Fintech Product Enablement
+ Build and operate account risk platforms that protect customers and enable seamless access to Fintech products including Payments, B2B, Bill Pay, Payroll, and Lending.
+ Enable continued and real-time account monitoring across the customer lifecycle, incorporating behavioral signals, device intelligence, transaction patterns, and account changes.
+ Partner with Product and Policy teams to translate account risk strategies and policies into scalable, real-time engineering solutions that adapt as customer behavior evolves.
+ Design risk capabilities that support cross-product risk visibility, enabling consistent decisions across multiple Fintech surfaces.
Risk Product & Platform Delivery
+ Deliver highly available, low-latency risk decisioning platforms supporting real-time transactions and account-level decisions at massive scale.
+ Lead modernization of legacy risk systems into cloud-native, API-driven platforms with strong observability and operational excellence.
+ Enable AI/ML-driven risk capabilities, including model integration, explainability, and operational intelligence for account and transaction risk.
+ Ensure platforms can support diverse risk use cases such as step-up authentication, account restrictions, velocity controls, and lending eligibility.
Cross-Functional & Regulatory Collaboration
+ Partner closely with Product Management, Analytics, Policy, Compliance, Identity, Legal, and Data Science to deliver account risk solutions aligned with business and regulatory needs.
+ Lead delivery of complex regulatory and compliance initiatives impacting account access, payments, payroll, and lending products.
+ Act as a senior technical leader and trusted execution partner to executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
Operational Excellence
+ Own platform reliability, security, and performance, with clear accountability for SLAs, incident response, and continuous improvement.
+ Establish reusable architecture patterns, development standards, and best practices adopted across multiple Fintech ecosystems.
+ Drive proactive monitoring, alerting, and operational insights to ensure account risk issues are detected and mitigated early.
Qualifications
Required
+ 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years leading managers and large engineering organizations.
+ Deep experience building and operating account risk, fraud, identity, or Fintech platforms at scale.
+ Strong background enabling Payments, B2B, Bill Pay, Payroll, or Lending products through robust risk controls.
+ Proven success delivering high-availability, low-latency distributed systems processing billions of transactions.
+ Expertise in cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, microservices).
+ Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Product, Risk, Policy, and Compliance teams.
Preferred
+ Experience with continuous account monitoring and lifecycle-based risk models.
+ Hands-on leadership of AI/ML-enabled risk systems, including explainability and operational tooling.
+ Experience modernizing legacy platforms and building 0-to-1 risk capabilities.
+ Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Bay Area California $ 213,500- 288,500
New York $ 208,000.00 - 281,500.00
