About the role
The Quality Supervisor will lead and manage the quality team, provide technical expertise, oversee product specification management, and represent the Quality function in cross-functional meetings for Kerry's Clark, New Jersey facility.
Key responsibilities
• Manage and develop direct reports (Lab Technician & Senior Lab Technician).
• Conduct Tier meetings with the quality team to share critical information, review KPIs, and communicate priorities.
• Ensure specification review and alignment in the quality database for all New Product Introductions, including sensory, analytical, and microbiological requirements.
• Perform and assist with sensory and analytical testing (e.g., pH, titration, SG/RI testing, spectrophotometer) for raw materials, in-process, and finished products in accordance with SOPs and specifications as required.
• Review HPLC and Gas Chromatography (GC) testing and interpret results accurately.
• Troubleshoot and maintain quality lab instruments and testing methods.
• Participate in sensory evaluation panels.
• Lead automation and laboratory improvement projects.
• Provide solutions for out-of-specification products to Supply Chain and Production teams.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for raw material issues, internal product concerns, and customer complaints.
• Communicate with suppliers to resolve out-of-specification raw material issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Supply Chain, Production, Sales, and Product Commercialization.
• Maintain laboratory data, files, supplies, and ensure timely calibration of equipment.
• Manage quality data in SAP and Intelex systems.
• Follow all quality, safety, and company protocols and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required by the department.
Qualifications and skills
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Food Science, or related applied science.
• Strong skills in sensory evaluation, analytical testing, problem-solving, and product specification management.
• Experience with SAP (power user/superuser preferred) and Intelex systems.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of food safety principles (GMP, HACCP, etc.).
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform sensory evaluations on a variety of flavor products, including savory/meat products, essential oils, and raw materials.
• Ability to stand and work at a lab bench for extended periods.
• Ability to operate laboratory instruments and interpret results accurately.
The pay range for this position is $64,479 - $105,272 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition, this position is also eligible to earn a performance-based incentive compensation.
