    Position Overview

    Kiewit is seeking an accomplished Quality Engineering Director with extensive experience in driving engineering excellence across the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) industry. This individual will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality engineering practices that enhance project delivery, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with industry standards.With a minimum of 10 years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, the successful candidate will combine technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic vision to embed quality into every phase of the project lifecycle — from conceptual design through construction and turnover.

Our principal quality objectives are to meet or exceed clients’ expectations and to eliminate rework by performing our work “right the first time.” We monitor our performance against these objectives and require continual improvement.

    Responsibilities

    Quality Engineering Leadership

    • Lead the enterprise-wide quality engineering strategy with a focus on risk reduction, reliability, and performance.

    • Establish quality engineering standards, metrics, and KPIs that ensure consistent excellence across all EPC projects.

    • Champion quality-by-design principles to proactively integrate best practices into engineering deliverables.

    Technical Excellence & EPC Integration

    • Partner with engineering, procurement, and construction leaders to ensure quality requirements are embedded into design reviews, vendor qualifications, fabrication, and field execution.

    • Oversee the application of advanced engineering tools, digital technologies, and automation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and constructability.

    • Drive adoption of predictive quality methods that anticipate issues before they impact project outcomes.

    Continuous Improvement & Innovation

    • Implement lessons-learned systems and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) that drive measurable improvements across the project portfolio.

    • Leverage lean, Six Sigma, and ISO 9001 methodologies to strengthen organizational processes and client satisfaction.

    • Introduce innovative approaches — such as AI, machine learning, and simulation modeling — to improve design quality and reduce rework.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Mentor, develop, and grow a team of quality engineers and managers across disciplines and geographies.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within engineering teams.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert and industry thought leader in quality engineering, representing Kiewit with clients, partners, and professional forums.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline); Master’s preferred.

    • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in engineering quality management within the EPC sector.

    • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.

    • Strong knowledge of quality engineering methodologies, standards, and codes (ISO 9001, ASME, API, AISC, etc.).

    • Demonstrated success integrating quality practices into engineering and construction workflows.

    • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or PMP are highly desirable.

    • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Willingness to travel to project sites and regional offices as required.

    + Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

    + Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

    + May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
