We are seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Infrastructure Architect to lead a migration from on-premises to a hybrid cloud model using Microsoft Azure and AWS. The architect will design secure, scalable infrastructure and support operations across cloud and on-premises while providing mentorship, knowledge transfer, and training to internal staff.

Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $90.00 to $95.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

+ Lead technical architecture for a secure, resilient, and scalable hybrid environment across Azure, AWS, and on-premises.

+ Define integration strategies for legacy systems and cloud workloads.

+ Develop infrastructure standards, policies, and lifecycle strategies to guide modernization.

+ Serve as Level 4 technical expert for infrastructure, virtualization, networking, and cloud services.

+ Provide on-site leadership for implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization.

+ Provide after-hours support during cutovers, incidents, emergencies, and maintenance windows.

+ Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to IT staff with structured knowledge transfer.

+ Mentor staff on Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure Backup, and Endpoint Manager operations.

+ Design secure architectures compliant with CJIS, NIST, and state or local standards.

+ Oversee identity architecture including Active Directory, Azure AD, Entra ID, AWS IAM, MFA, and RBAC.

+ Oversee PKI infrastructure, encryption, access control, auditability, and secure connectivity.

+ Guide phased migration of infrastructure workloads and services to cloud platforms.

+ Architect hybrid networking including VPN, SD-WAN, ExpressRoute, and Direct Connect.

+ Automate deployments using Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, and CloudFormation.

+ Maintain documentation including diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, security plans, and recovery procedures.

+ Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and training for department staff.

+ Create and maintain compliance documentation for internal and third-party audits.

+ Deliver monthly health checks, incident response support, root cause analyses, and roadmap recommendations.

Experience Requirements:

+ Minimum 8 years in enterprise infrastructure roles with focus on cloud and hybrid environments.

+ Expert knowledge of Azure, AWS, on-prem virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V), and enterprise storage.

+ Proven experience in public-sector IT or regulated environments.

+ Hands-on expertise with virtualization platforms such as vSphere and ESXi.

+ Hands-on expertise in enterprise networking with vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.

+ Experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and object storage.

+ Strong competency in identity and access management.

+ Experience with hybrid cloud networking and security design.

+ Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools including Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, and CloudFormation.

+ Strong understanding of CJIS, NIST, or FedRAMP compliance frameworks.

+ Demonstrated ability to mentor technical teams and provide training in operational environments.

+ Ability to work extended hours for migrations, outages, security events, and critical maintenance.

Education Requirements:

+ Professional certifications preferred: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

+ Additional preferred certifications: CISSP, VMware VCAP, Cisco CCNP or CCIE.
