Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a SWE to join a highly specialized, cross-functional group responsible for rapid technical assessment, architectural evaluation, and modernization readiness scoring of applications across First American. Our mission is to:

Analyze systems in place to determine disposition options (retain, retire, rehost, replatform, refactor, replace).

Produce architecture recommendations and high-level modernization roadmaps.

Establish ROI frameworks, modernization effort estimates, and dependency maps.

Deliver clear, actionable guidance for business and technical leaders.

This role requires a deeply technical engineer with architectural judgment, full-stack capability, hands-on coding strength, and extensive AWS + DevOps experience.

What You’ll Do

- Technical Assessment & Architecture

- Perform deep-dive technical evaluations of existing applications—code, architecture, integrations, infrastructure, security posture, and operational maturity.

- Identify modernization patterns and recommend target architectures leveraging cloud-native AWS services, containers, microservices, event-driven patterns, or serverless based on business value and ROI.

- Create high-level modernization plans, including effort projections, risk/impact analysis, and technical feasibility assessments.

-Identify security vulnerabilities, policy compliance gaps, and architectural risks; recommend prioritized remediation strategies aligned with enterprise security standards and AWS best practices.

Hands-On Engineering & Delivery

- As a core member of this rapid-assessment strike team, you are the hands-on engineer implementing the work that validates recommendations and establishes modernization direction.

-Write high-quality application and infrastructure code across the full stack to explore modernization paths, validate technical assumptions, and implement targeted refactors or enhancements.

-Build and automate AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration workflows using Terraform, Ansible, and DevOps tooling to establish repeatable and scalable modernization patterns.

-Develop functional prototypes, modernization accelerators, and reference implementations that provide concrete proof of feasibility and guide downstream engineering teams during execution.

Skills and Requirements

- 5+ years as a software engineer with demonstrated full-stack capability and architectural influence.

Proven experience designing and evaluating modern AWS architectures across compute, networking, security, storage, serverless, containers, and data services.

Strong proficiency in:

Terraform (required) for Infrastructure-as-Code and standardized cloud provisioning.

CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and cloud automation.

System design, distributed systems, refactoring strategies, and API design.

Ability to decompose complex legacy systems into clear modernization paths aligned with business value.

Experience providing effort estimates, TCO analysis, and ROI insights for modernization and migration options.

Excellent communication skills—capable of presenting detailed technical findings and high-level summaries to diverse audiences.

Technical Breadth

Expertise with modern programming languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET Core, Node.js, TypeScript, Go, or similar.

Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, and containerization workflows.

Proficiency with relational and NoSQL data systems.

Familiarity with automated testing, observability, reliability engineering, and secure-by-design practices.

Ansible experience highly preferred for configuration automation, deployment consistency, and environment standardization.
