Job Details:
The Director, Critical Care is responsible for the overall direction and management of Critical Care, Operational responsibility includes the following areas: ICU units at Good Samaritan Hospital as well as the Rapid Response Team. Coordinates with Emergency Department, Nursing Units, and other support departments that impact the critical care delivery system.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to· Manages, directs, and coordinates the operation of Critical Care Services which includes the hospital and interfaces with physicians, staff and leaders across the continuum. Investigates and studies trends and developments in Critical Care services practices and techniques and develops new procedures to reflect applicable advances in the field. Identifies the need for change, process improvements, and operational excellence related to cost, quality, and service. Develops policies and procedures as appropriate. Works with marketing to develop strategies to improve volumes and increase business across the service line. Assists in development of promotional events, community education and community outreach, screenings, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Work requires knowledge of operation of activities and services related to critical care services, professional level of knowledge in finance, budgeting, and planning, as well as demonstrated managerial and leadership ability, and excellent personnel management and communication skills at a level generally acquired during five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience preferably within Critical Care Department Services. Registered Nurse in the New York State, Certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or other appropriate organization within one year of employment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field; master's degree in Health Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA) or Nursing MSN required.
