As an Operations Research intern, within Digital and Electrical Systems (DES)- Enterprise Optimization organization you will:
+ Contribute to projects that deploy robust decision models to enterprise level systems for wide array of GE Aerospace's application areas in service, manufacturing and supply chain systems.

Roles and Responsibilities
+ Developing algorithms for distributed cloud-computing frameworks that solve large-scale problems modeling complex systems
+ Collaborating with experts in an interdisciplinary environment to develop theoretical and practical approaches for solving real-world problems
+ Patenting your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals
+ Code quick prototype analytics tools for early phase of software systems production
+ Clearly and professionally communicate progress and results of your research with the team, business leaders, customers and technology providers
At GE Aerospace Research, scientists, engineers, and technicians innovate for the future of flight. An internship with us will provide valuable hands-on experience to help you launch your career in industrial research. Intern assignments are typically for 12-14 weeks; working side by side with experts in the field of mechanical engineering, completing challenging technical projects and applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems. This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments.
Required Qualifications
+ Current or upcoming enrollment in a full time Ph.D. program at an accredited university majoring in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research or related STEM discipline.
+ Willing to work out onsite at the GE Aerospace Research facility in Niskayuna, NY.
+ Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale
+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

+ Strong theoretical knowledge of probabilistic models, algorithms and optimization
+ Demonstrated capability to rapidly develop prototypes to validate theoretical models with empirical observations
+ Demonstrated development skills and documentation capability in Python, R, SAS, MATLAB, CPLEX and/or AnyLogic
+ Humble: respectful, inclusive, curious/inquisitive
+ Transparent: clear communicator, collaborator, creative problem solver
+ Focused: sets strategic priorities, uses data to make decisions, critical thinker
+ Desire to grow your career within the aerospace & defense industry.
+ Candidates eligible to work on U.S. Government projects involving CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) preferred.
The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. GE provides travel reimbursement and housing stipend for qualified interns.
