Job Summary and Qualifications

+ You will function as logistical support for the operating room regarding instruments and sterilization of surgical instrumentation.

+ You will affect turnover and support operating room staff regarding central sterile requirements.

+ You will supervise the Sterile Processing Department.

+ You will consult with nursing administration concerning management of central supply services department and keep Director informed of activities, needs, and problems.

+ You will organize, direct, and coordinate functions and activities in central supply/services department.

+ You will interpret and implement established policies and procedures, regulations.

+ You will utilize personnel efficiently.

+ You will provide a clean, orderly, safe, and functional environment.

+ You will plan and direct routines and workflow.

+ You will evaluate department performance and productivity and effect changes as needed to improve services.

+ You will direct and supervise, orient, and instruct departmental personnel.

+ You will schedule hours and assign duties.

+ You will evaluate work performance and recommend personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

+ You will provide in-services for staff development.

+ You will inspect area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and take corrective action when violations occur.

+ You will maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control and analyze department needs.

+ You will study new products, equipment, techniques, services and make recommendations to nursing administration.

+ You will coordinate central supply/services with operating room functions and nursing unit/area functions to provide services promptly and efficiently.

What qualifications you will need:

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree with business or healthcare focus preferred.

+ Previous work experience in Sterile Processing required.

+ Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

+ Certification in central service management preferred.

Experience:

+ 5 years minimum OR scrub experience required.

+ Thorough knowledge of supplies and equipment used in the field of central processing, storage, care, and maintenance procedures required.

+ Work with vendors and an understanding of purchasing procedures required.

+ Computer software knowledge preferred.
