Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary:
Performs a variety of direct patient care activities which fall within the scope of LNA practice as defined by the State Board of Nursing and Catholic Medical Center Nursing Organization policies and procedures. Assist the Registered Nurse, or physician to perform selected patient care activities or tasks as appropriate. Reports all observations, symptoms, deviations from normal, and changes in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.
What will you do in this role:
Perform patient rounds, responds to patient call bells promptly and communicates with appropriate staff to meet patient needs. Updates communication white board in patient room.
Performs or assists patients in the completion of activities of daily living. Assists nursing staff with patient ambulation, transfers, range of motion and repositioning as required.
Anticipates patient needs and asks patient about need for toileting, fluid, nutrition, and comfort measures.
Documents in selected areas of the medical record, as appropriate, according to policies and procedures.
Performs 12-lead Electrocardiograms (EKG) as directed.
Phlebotomy - obtains venous and capillary blood samples from patients for a variety of lab tests.
Performs Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) monitoring, as delegated, downloads the information into the patient’s electronic medical record.
Operating Room Technician Function and Role
Sets up sterile table with instruments, sutures, blades, electrosurgical equipment, suction, and solutions as needed for vaginal or Cesarean Section delivery.
Counts sponges, needles, and instruments with RN prior to procedure, during, and before incision are closed.
Prepare sterile dressings.
Maintains aseptic and sterile techniques throughout procedures. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Properly cares for and handles specimens.
The Mom’s Place
Assists with diapering and circumcision dressing changes.
Assists with bottle-feeding, as directed by RN.
Assists RN with LDRP set up for births and with turnover of patient rooms.
Assists providers during circumcisions and births.
Assures adequate supply of oxygen tanks for infant warmers.
Cleans, stocks and prepares infant warmers and cribs for use.
Stocks supplies in all areas, to include LDRP, Newborn Nursery, Triage, Operating Room and Medication room.
What qualifications will you need:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.)
Six months of C.N.A./LNA experience required.
New Hampshire LNA license required.
BLS certified. If not BLS certified, must obtain BLS certification prior to completion of orientation, not to exceed 21 days from date of hire. Must maintain BLS throughout employment.
Perinatal Scrub Program - must obtain within 6 months of date of hire and maintain throughout employment
