Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual for a direct hire entry-level field service engineering role with a focus on automotive custom machine manufacturing. This position is ideal for candidates interested in transitioning into controls engineering roles in the future. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles learned through academic projects and hands-on experience gained through internships or co-ops. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and skill development in engineering.

Responsibilities

+ Engage in a hands-on engineering role that involves extensive learning during the initial phase.

+ Participate in 2-4 months of training at the Grand Rapids site, receiving instruction and guidance from the Field Service Manager and team.

+ Shadow and observe experienced engineers to learn best practices and behaviors.

+ Travel to various customer sites across the US, with an expectation of 70-90% travel.

+ Assist customers in starting up, running, and commissioning automotive assembly testing equipment.

+ Work on basic electrical assembly of panels, high voltage power sources, PLC panels, transistors, and motor drives.

+ Engage in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and automated equipment.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

+ Fundamental understanding of PLC/ladder logic

+ Mechanical and electrical aptitude

+ Demonstrated eagerness and interest in developing new skills

+ Possession of a clean driving record

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 1-2 years of experience in pneumatics and hydraulics

+ Experience through co-ops or internships is highly beneficial

Work Environment

The role involves both desk work and hands-on activities. While at the home base, you will spend time behind the desk as well as on the floor working directly with machines. The majority of critical work will take place at customer sites, focusing on troubleshooting, installing, and servicing machinery. The position requires frequent travel to different parts of the US, with extensive fieldwork.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $63000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
