    Job Title: Foreman and Operator

    Responsibilities

    + Supervise equipment operators, laborers, and skilled laborers.

    + Inform team of immediate plans at the beginning of each shift.

    + Create work schedules in collaboration with superintendents.

    + Process and submit daily timecards accurately.

    + Monitor crew attendance and performance, providing training and coaching as needed.

    + Allocate daily responsibilities to the crew.

    + Ensure construction projects align with company procedures and safety standards.

    + Provide leadership, training, and guidance to the crew.

    + Supervise machinery and equipment use.

    + Monitor expenditures to ensure they remain within budget.

    + Resolve problems as they arise.

    + Report progress to managers and engineers.

    + Perform other assigned duties.

    Essential Skills

    + 5 years of experience in the construction field.

    + _Knowledge in land development, civil engineering, grading, stormwater management, excavator operation, pipe fitting, drainage, heavy equipment, construction, blueprint reading, underground utilities, dozer operation, utility construction, and trench digging._

    + _Knowledge and experience with underground stormwater development and utilities._

    + Excavation safety knowledge.

    + Trench box knowledge.

    + Grading knowledge.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Valid state-issued motor vehicle license.

    + Background in heavy construction such as trenching and excavation, confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres including grading, excavation, and earth moving.

    + Ability to make financial, reputational, and crew-related decisions.

    + Excellent communication and written skills.

    + Proficiency in electronic form filling using Bluebeam/Adobe.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ability to use an iPad and iPhone.

    + Ability to work in high-stress conditions and quickly changing environments.

    + Excellent decision-making, compromising, and mediating skills.

    + Ability to work in varied outdoor conditions, including walking over job sites in different construction stages and coping with wet, dry, hot, and cold conditions.

    The work involves underground utility construction jobs around Northern Virginia, including federal, education, data centers, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and apartments. Core business hours are as necessary, with some jobs requiring night shifts, particularly federal projects.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
