Float school nurse is ASSIGNED their schedule and cannot make changes; requests can be made but not guaranteed to be honored to ensure every school has coverage. Charles County covers all of K-12 and a couple of charter programs. Our staff can expect to be sent anywhere in Charles County and should be comfortable understanding potential commutes.
While mandatory floating is less ideal to candidates, in return they are guaranteed to work every day of school regardless of all being covered. If all schools are covered, our staff will double up at a school to ensure full time hours are met. The hours are still strictly paid for hours worked and no holiday or school break pay, but if school is in session CCPS will work the nurses.
