    Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist – Radiology/Cardiology

    About the Role

    University of Maryland Saint Joseph Medical Center is seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist (Cath Lab Tech or XRT with RCIS) to support diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures within a high-acuity Cath/EP environment. This role assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and vascular disease, including arrhythmias, and specializes in caring for patients undergoing PTCA, stent placement, IABP placement, EP device procedures, and ablations.

     

    The technologist functions as a technical resource, provides scrub assistance, and supports both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. First-time travelers are accepted. Local travelers are accepted at a reduced rate.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures

    + Support care for patients undergoing PTCA, stent placement, IABP placement, EP devices, and ablations

    + Perform diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with congenital or acquired cardiac disease

    + Perform interventional procedures including PTCA, stent prep/placement, and IABP operation

    + Support EP procedures including EP studies, pacemaker/ICD/BiV ICD implantation, and ablations

    + Operate physiologic and radiographic equipment safely and efficiently

    + Maintain professional standards and adhere to all safety requirements

    + Participate in ongoing in-service training to maintain clinical competency

    + Transport patients and maintain communication throughout procedures

    + Perform EKG lead placement, BP monitoring, and pulse oximetry setup

    + Prepare and break down procedure rooms, including drug/fluid preparation, stocking, narcotic counts, QC checks, and equipment setup

    + Prepare sterile trays and patient fields for procedures

    + Follow all radiation safety and PPE requirements

    + Document patient data accurately in hemodynamic and X-ray systems

    + Assist with EP mapping systems including Carto, EPMed, and ESI

    + Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards

    + Adhere to all Amergis and facility policies

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    Shift Schedule

    + Shift: Days, 06:30 AM – 5:00 PM

    + Schedule: 4×10-hour shifts

    + Weekends: Required as needed, combined with call

    + Holidays: Required as scheduled

    + On-Call Requirements:

    + Up to 10 weekday call shifts (5:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Mon–Thurs)

    + 3 weekend call rotations (Fri 5:00 PM – Mon 6:00 AM)

     

    Unit includes 2 Cath Labs and 1 Hybrid OR.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Graduate of a CAAHEP or ASCP/SCP accredited program preferred

    + Bachelor’s degree in biology, anatomy, physiology, or related field preferred

    + Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab/interventional scrubbing experience required

    + BLS and ACLS required

    + ARRT-R and/or RCIS required

    + PALS per contract requirements (may obtain before start)

    + Participation in Amergis Competency Program when applicable

    + Current CPR certification (if applicable)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)

    + Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

    + Successful completion of new-hire training

    + Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality

    + Strong communication skills and English proficiency

    + Computer proficiency required

    + Must be at least 18 years of age

    Compensation PackagesLocal Cath Lab Technologist

    + Pay Rate: $[Insert Rate]/hr

    + Estimated Weekly Pay: $[Insert Amount]

    Travel Cath Lab Technologist

    + Hourly Pay: $51.50/hr

    + Meals: $476

    + Housing: $770

    + Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,306

     

    Non-billable orientation: 24 hours.
